The Liberian Community Of Syracuse General Meeting

LICOS general meeting was called to order at 6:55 pm by the president, Mr. Leo Dossen.

Opening prayer was conducted by Mrs. Youah Nuah and  the April 17th 2010 meeting minutes was read and approved to  form part of LICOS perminent records.

Attendance: 27 persons were present at the meeting.

Main topics of discussion: The distribution of LICOS Constitution, Farewell program for Mr. Simpson Snoh and committee’s reports.

Constitution: The President stated that copies of LICOS  Constitution are available and questioned whether to distribute the

constitution to every member including those who did not pay the $5.00 Constitution fees. It was suggested that the Constitution be issued to those who paid for the Constitution $5.00 fees. However,  the list of those who paid for the Constitution was not available at the meeting and the topic was tabled to be discussed at the next meeting with the lists of all those who paid the fees be available.

Farewell program for Mr. Simpson Snoh: It was agreed upon that a farewell program be held jointly by the Liberian Community and the Liberian Church.The program is expected to be held on 5/9/2010 at the church at 3:30 pm. An award will be presented to Mr. Snoh for his outstanding services to the Liberian  Community of Syracuse. Opened donations were welcome and  Ms. Ruth Deweh was the first person who donated $20.00 in this regard.

Committee’s report: Networking and Opportunity Committee - Miss Mardea Warner informed the Community about summer jobs opportunities which are available. She stated that informations will always be available during each meeting. Mardea stated that anyone who is interested in these opportunities should declare their intention ASAP.

No other committee submitted report during the meeting.

AOB /other matters: Mr. Emmanuel Tambah on behalf of the former Administration of LICOS headed by Miss Pauline Collins submitted a report of activities during their Administration and presented important documents to the current Administration. Details of documents presented are listed in the report which can be made available to anyone who may need a copy.

Mr. Johnson Kumeh invited Mr. Joseph S. Morris at the meeting. Mr. Morris came to visit from Pennsylvania and he introduced himself to the Community and the president, Mr. Leo Dossen welcome him (Mr. Morris) and thank him for the visitation.

Sports: Mr. Caleb Gbarjo suggested a soccer test match between Rochester Liberian community and the Liberian community of Syracuse ahead of the July 26 Independence Day Tournament which is expected tol be hosted by the Liberian Community of Syracuse, (LICOS) INC.. Mr. Gbarjolo said by doing so, the Community Team  will fully be prepared to win the 2010 Reginal Soccer and Kick balls Tournament.

Meeting was adjourned at 8:55pm in good spirit.
