Liberian Community general meeting
1240 Park Street, Syracuse NY
January 16, 2010
The meeting was called to order at 6:55pm by the president. Helen moved that the meeting form part of our record and Pauline seconded motion. The president read the agenda for the meeting but the main focus of discussion was about the edited constitution for the Liberian community.
Prior to the discussion on the constitution, the president asked that the Secretary read the minutes of the previous meeting. The secretary read the minutes and the president asked if there was any corrections to be made in the minutes. Sarah noted that she was quoted wrongly in the minutes when the secretary reported that she (Sarah) had apologized for not getting one of her members involve in the planning of the Christmas dinner party and that her committee would improve on their mistakes of her committee. Sarah stated that she did not apologize and that her committee is already improved and does not need any more improvement. The secretary made the correction in the minutes. No further corrections were made on the minutes. The minutes was then accepted to form part of the community's records.
During the meeting, there were few new members who introduced themselves to the Community. They were; Howa George and Mamalu Bango. They were received with gladness in the meeting.
The president presented the edited constitution to be read and discussed. The president and Mardea Warner took turns in reading the constitution article by article and section by section. Each article and section was explained as we went alone. Due to the time factor the reading of the constitution was not complete. It was schedule to be continued in the next meeting. The reading was stopped at Article 12 section 12.3.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:00pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Emmanuel N. Tambah
General secretary
