Call to order

The president, Mr. Leo Dossen called the meeting to order at 7:06

Invocation

The assistant Chaplain, Ms. Yuah Nuan led the invocation and asked God’s blessing upon the group.

Minutes of previous meeting

The recorder for the day read the minutes of the previous meeting which had been taken by the General Secretary. Simpson observed that no mention of the summer vacation job opportunities and tutoring for kids to help prepare them for the coming test was made. Mardea responded that a report will be prepared and sent to the General Secretary later. Jacob also question the idea of individual(s) going to ask for or find information about ACTS. The president and Mardea responded that Mardea volunteered to find information about ACTS since it was indicated that they did not have sufficient information to demonstrate the need for LICOS to join the organization (ACTS) which some of the members expressed apprehension of it being a political organization. The information was to be collected from the organization’s website and that anyone could go to the site for similar purpose.

Introduction and recognition of visitors, friends, and family members

There was no visitor, friend nor family member in attendance to be introduced and or recognized.

LICOS Motto

The president said that he wanted the motto of the organization to be read in the meeting so that members can become familiar with it. He said the motto is already on the organization’s official letter head. Other points that came out of the discussion included: that rationale or meaning of the motto should be explained so members will understand it and be able to explain it to others when need be; it should be reflected on printed documents of the organization; it should be used in calling attention of the group during meeting, for example, by calling the name ‘LICOS,’ and having the members respond by saying the motto.

Invitation from United Grand Gedean Association in Rochester, NY

The recorder read the letter from the United Grand Gedean Association in Rocherter, NY, inviting LICOS to its fundraising rally and to participate in the soccer and kickball activities of the program. There is a flat fee of $20.00 to be paid per person to enter the program with opportunity of discount for soccer and kickball players. The group accepted the invitation with the following notation:

·         the leadership should make sure that the letter is true and coming from the right people

·         modalities should be worked out for the organization’s participation in the program including addressing a concern of cost of tickets for those who will participate on either of the sporting activities;
