2.         Invocation:  Mrs. Youah Nuah

3.         Minutes of 5/1/10 Meeting:

Mr. Emmanuel Tambah (General Secretary) was not present; Ms. Mardea Warner was asked by the President to take meeting notes in his absence and the minutes of the 5/1/10 meeting were reviewed. There were no questions or comments.

4.          Constitution Distribution:

Mr. Leo Dossen had identified the names of those who prepaid for copies of the constitution. The copies were distributed and others were encouraged to pay for their copies.

5.         Financial Report:

The Quarterly Financial Report (March-May 2010) was reviewed and receipts for dues received were delivered. Ms. Warner noted a discrepancy in her monthly payments and requested that the receipt be written after the corrections had been made.

6.         Graduation Celebrations

It was the concensus of everyone at the meeting that last year’s party was enjoyed by the Liberian graduates here in Syracuse. The Planning Committee started collecting the names of the parents of this year’s graduates. The Planning Committee will finalize the details. Discussion also included the following:  parents of the graduates contributing to the event and LICOS vs Individual Family parties. There was a concern expressed about students who should be graduating but in actuality will not and the initial 6/26 date was changed. The LICOS Graduation Party will be held on July 1st at (CYO) 527 N Salina at 6 PM.

7.         Standing Committees:

Planning Committee--Mr. Allen Marwieh reported on the T-shirts. They would be printed with a date change to last year’s design. A discussion was had about costs, taking into consideration sizing and colors. The red, white or blue shirts can be completed in 2 weeks (7/9/10). A final decision of cost was a flat rate of $15 per shirt.  The LICOS individual payment deadline would be 7/3/10. A concern was that the deadline for shirt payment may not be enough to deal with late payments. Ms. Sarah Doe, Chairperson of the Planning Committee reported on the dress code for the 7/24 parade, after discussion the following was decided:  women-LICOS t-shirt and individual lappas, men-white LICOS t-shirts and black jeans. Ms.Warner had noted that Syracusans might enjoy seeing all of the different styles and colors of the different lappas and not just one uniform color. It was also noted that for the men the blue and white were reminiscent of gang attaire here in the city and the decision was made to change the color.  It was also suggested that if LICOS is interested in inviting other Liberians or communities to participate in the dress code; they should be informed of this as soon as possible.

8.         Other Matters:

Mr. Prince Sherman’s legal woes were briefly discussed and Mr. L. Dossen (President) offered to speak with Ms. Hawa George about the situation.

Ms. Warner extended an invitation to all gathered to attend the debut showing of the Beyond Boundaries documentary about the 2006 Cultural Awareness Trip to Ghana.
